Uncover Arctic Adventures with Author Patrick White!

October 24, 2004

Join journalist and historian Patrick White for rollicking tales of the North as he reads from his book at four West Coast venues this November: the Vancouver Maritime Museum, on Sunday, November 7, Volume One Books in Duncan on Monday, November 8, Harbourfront Branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library in Nanaimo on Tuesday, November 9, and the Greater Victoria Public Library in Oak Bay on Wednesday, November 10.

Almost everyone knows who Bill White is, though they may not know his name. Bill is the red-coated, dog-sledding Mountie who always gets his man. At least thatís how it seems at first glance. But readers of Mountie in Mukluks will soon realize they are in the presence of one of the most un-cop-like cops who ever built an igloo. And by the time they have finished they will never be able to think quite the same way about the fabled Redcoats, or life in the far North.

Patrick White will kick off his tour at the Vancouver Maritime Museum, located at 1905 Ogden Avenue in Vanier Park, on Sunday, November 7 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. He will also be reading on Monday, November 8 at 7:30 pm at Volume One Books in Duncan, on Tuesday, November 9 at 6:30 pm at the Harbourfront Branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library in Nanaimo, and on Wednesday, November 10 from 4 pm to 6 p.m. at the Greater Victoria Public Library in Oak Bay.

These events are made possible in part by the support of the Canada Council for the Arts. The readings are free and open to the public.
