Harbour Publishing Nominated for BC Book Awards!
March 30, 2006
Once again, Harbour Publishing, Pender Harbour’s resident book publisher, has received multiple BC Book Prize nominations—three award nominations in two categories. The BC Book Prizes, established in 1985, celebrate excellence in British Columbia writing and publishing.
Publisher Howard White said he was pleased to have three Harbour titles on this year's short list. “They are the BC Book Prizes, but publishers from all across Canada compete for them, and nobody got more nominations than we did. It's a real credit to our authors and staff.”
The Harbour titles that are being recognized are:
Marine Life of the Pacific Northwest: A Photographic Encyclopedia of Invertebrates, Seaweeds and Selected Fishes by Andy Lamb and Bernard P. Hanby: finalist for the Bill Duthie Booksellers’ Choice Award
Three Rivers: The Yukon’s Great Boreal Wilderness by Juri Peepre and Sarah Locke: finalist for the Bill Duthie Booksellers’ Choice Award
Stanley Park’s Secret: The Forgotten Families of Whoi Whoi, Kanaka Ranch and Brockton Point by Jean Barman: finalist for the Roderick Haig-Brown Regional Prize
The winners will be announced at the BC Book Prizes Gala on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at the Marriott Pinnacle Hotel in Vancouver. Hosted by Bill Richardson—author, media personality and humorist—this year’s event will mark the 22nd BC Book Prize ceremony.
