People, Fish and Whales book donation and event

March 23, 2007

2,500 copies of People, Fish and Whales: The Vancouver Aquarium Story, by Dr. Murray A. Newman CM OBC with Dr. John Nightingale, have been generously donated to BC schools and libraries by Jean Southam, in memory of her father H.R. MacMillan. Macmillan was a long-time patron of The Vancouver Aquarium.

Entertaining, educational, and packed with fabulous, full-colour photography, People, Fish and Whales tells how a small, community-owned aquarium that opened in 1956, with seven staff, a curator fresh out of university, and no cash register and no money, grew into one of the world's greatest biological institutions.

Which Aquarium Resident Horses Around by Dancing and Changing Colours?

Meet Dr. Murray A. Newman and find out. Get a behind-the-scenes account of everyone’s favourite place to visit from the man who has seen it all.

Dr. Newman will present an engaging slide show and share the many interesting experiences that fill the pages of People, Fish and Whales: The Vancouver Aquarium Story (Harbour, $19.95) at the West Vancouver Seniors Centre, 695 – 21st Street, West Vancouver, BC
Wednesday, March 28, 2007, from 1:30 – 3:30pm
