Local Poet Lights up Gastown

August 1, 2007

Join poet Marita Dachsel as she reads from her stunning debut collection of poems, All Things Said & Done (Caitlin Press, $15.95). 2+2: A Reading combines two novelists and two poets on one stage on Friday, August 10, 2007, beginning at 6:30 pm at The Annex Restaurant, 307 West Cordova in Gastown. The after-work reading includes novelists Steven Galloway (Ascension, the forthcoming The Cellist of Sarajevo) and Lee Henderson (The Broken Record Technique, the forthcoming The Man Game), and poet Jennica Harper (The Octopus and Other Poems) in addition to Marita Dachsel.

Marita Dachsel’s poetry playfully and poignantly documents the moments of life that stand out in the pages of a family album and the intervals of memory—she perceptively sprinkles these moments with the details that photographs don’t reveal. Marita was born and raised in Williams Lake, BC, and has lived in Kamloops, Dawson City, Auckland, New Zealand and Montpellier, France. She has an MFA in creative writing from UBC and has been published widely in Canadian literary journals. She currently lives in Vancouver, BC.
