James Barber Adds His Personal Touch to Cooking For Two!

September 21, 2007

Meet celebrated chef and TV personality, James Barber, to talk about is deliciously saucy new cookbook, Cooking for Two. Ask this creative chef any cooking question to get the answers you’ve been burning to know, at the following locations:

· LADYSMITH: Worldly Gourmet (cooking demo) Monday October 22, at 1pm
· PARKSVILLE: Lefty’s Fresh Food Restaurant (author dinner) Tuesday October 23, at 6pm and Mulberry Bush Bookstore (signing) to follow.
· VICTORIA: Bolen Books (signing) Saturday October 20, at 1pm
· DUNCAN: Pots & Paraphernalia (signing) Saturday October 27, at 1pm

In Cooking for Two, Barber emphasizes having fun with a partner in the kitchen: “It ought to be a shared courtship, a foreplay to the intimacy of a shared dinner. ‘Let’s cook supper’ will do a lot more for your relationship than ‘I’m cooking. Leave me alone.’” Barber’s humorous anecdotes, such as how monogamy was born of the common chicken’s egg, extend into recipes like The Quickie Version of Rice Pudding. Barber’s well-known and easy manner of food preparation is once again a pleasure to read and to follow.

Cooking for Two brings new flavour to over 140 recipes ranging from appetizers to desserts to exotic salads like the Moroccan Orange and Radish Salad. Barber even cooks up creative holiday dishes for two such as Father’s Day Lamb Skewers with Mint and Yogurt, and Game Hens with Olives instead of the typical Christmas turkey. With 14 chapters featuring a variety of recipes, Barber proves that there are no limitations when cooking for two.

James Barber is best recognized as the host of the internationally acclaimed TV series The Urban Peasant, which is shown around the world. His bestselling books include One-Pot Wonders, Peasant’s Alphabet and Peasant’s Choice. He is also a regular contributor to a wide range of publications including Pacific Yachting, the Globe & Mail, Western Living, the Georgia Straight and The Province. Barber lives on a farm near Duncan, BC.
