Harbour Authors Entertain at Pacific Festival of the Book
Thursday, March 6, 2008
David A.E. Spalding and Kevin Oke, authors of Enchanted Isles, and Peter Trower, author of Haunted Hills and Hanging Valleys, will be visiting Victoria as part of The Pacific Festival of the Book.
This year’s theme “A Climate of Change” examines how modern changes are affecting the literary arts. The weeklong festival, spanning from March 10-20, not only features outstanding authors, but also offers various workshops on the publishing industry.
· Trower will be reading in studio 4/5 of the Victoria Arts Connection, #110 2750 Quadra St, on Saturday, March 15 from 10-10:30am.
Trower has authored numerous books of poetry and prose and has contributed to countless anthologies and periodicals. His most recent book is Haunted Hills and Hanging Valleys, which won him the Canadian Authors Association Award for poetry in 2005.
· Spalding and Oke will be presenting a slideshow and talk at the Victoria Arts Connection on Saturday March 15 from 2-3pm with a book signing from 4-4:30pm.
As long-time residents of the gulf islands, both the author of Enchanted Isles, David A.E. Spalding, and the photographer, Kevin Oke, are able to offer valuable knowledge available only to true islanders. Enchanted Isles is a gorgeous coffee-table book that shows why the Gulf Islands rank with Whistler and the Pacific Rim as one of the most popular tourist destinations in BC.
