Harbour Publishing received the inaugural Jim Douglas Publisher of Year Award for extraordinary publishing achievement, for the The Encyclopedia of British Columbia. The award was presented at a banquet on Tuesday March 26 in Vancouver, BC.
More than ten years in the making, the The Encyclopedia of British Columbia is the first-ever comprehensive reference devoted to the province. It features a wealth of information about BC facts and lore, celebrating the province’s remarkable culture, dramatic geography and diverse population. Editorial Director Daniel Francis directed the collected efforts of more than 200 distinguished BC citizens — authors, historians, economists, scientists, business and labour leaders and other experts — who wrote and/or reviewed the Encyclopedia’s entries. Originally released in print and CD-Rom, the Encyclopedia can now be enjoyed in an interactive form at
