Kate Braid and Ray Hsu To Visit the Robson Reading Series
Posted: April 1, 2009
Caitlin Press and Nightwood Editions are pleased to announce that poets Kate Braid and Ray Hsu will be reading at the UBC Robson Square Bookstore/Library (800 Robson Street, Vancouver) as part of the Robson Reading Series on Thursday, April 9 at 7pm. Admission is free, coffee/tea and cookies will be served, and the audience will have an opportunity to ask the authors questions about their work and writing process during a cozy conversation following the reading.
Kate Braid's A Well-Mannered Storm is a striking and masterful volume of poems that imagines a correspondence between the great Canadian pianist Glenn Gould and a fan known only as "K." Joining Kate will be bassist Clyde Reed, one of the founders of the NOW Orchestra and a Vancouver jazz scene favourite. Vancouver newcomer, poet Ray Hsu will ride the lively line between the traditional and the experimental with a reading full of surprises from his 2005 Gerald Lampert Award-winning collection, Anthropy.
