Double-Launch Party for Ricepaper Magazine Issue 15.3 & Ray Hsu's new Collection of Poetry

Nightwood Editions, Ricepaper Magazine and the Magazine Association of BC are pleased to host the launch of Ricepaper Magazine Issue 15.3 - Flavours of Food, and Ray Hsu's new book, Cold Sleep Permanent Afternoon (Nightwood Editions).
The event will be held at the Rhizome Café (317 E. Broadway) on Thursday, August 19. Arrive at 6:00 pm for a hot beverage and a sweet treat, free for first 60 tour-goers. From 6:20–6:55 pm there will be the reading of a tasty new play by Linda Mei, entitled Culinary Contributions, featuring Adrienne Wong and Fiona Tinwei Lam. Followed by Ray Hsu mixing one part Joy of Cooking, two parts happening!
Organized in association with Magazine Association of British Columbia, as part of the annual Main Street Magazine Tour, a celebration of local arts, literary and cultural magazines. The evening culminates in an after-party with music, prizes and more.
Ray Hsu is the author of Anthropy, which won the League of Canadian Poets’ Gerald Lampert Award and was a finalist for the Trillium Book Award for Poetry. He has published over a hundred poems in over thirty-five literary journals internationally. While completing his Ph.D. in English Literature at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he taught for two years in a nearby prison, where he founded the award-winning Prison Writing Workshop. He holds a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in the Creative Writing Program at the University of British Columbia.
Cold Sleep Permanent Afternoon, the follow-up to Ray Hsu’s award-winning first collection, Anthropy, is the second book in a prospective trilogy that explores the “grammar of personhood.”
