Rob Winger at Ottawa Writers Festival

April 30, 2011

For those planning to attend this spring's Ottawa International Writers Festival (April 28-May 3), don't miss Rob Winger's reading from his recent book, The Chimney Stone! Rob will be participating in the Ghazal Concert event, a series of readings inspired by the ancient Persian ghazal form, in which all of the poems in The Chimney Stone are written.

This event will take place on Monday May 2nd at 8:00 pm in the Southminster United Church (15 Aylmer Ave at Bank) and will also include readings from Lorna Crozier, Sandra Ridley and Robert Pinsky, with music by the M E L M'RABET Quartet. Admission $15 general, $10 reduced and free for members. For more information, call (613) 562-1243.

Rob Winger grew up country in small-town Ontario before graduating to post-punk and new wave. His first book, Muybridge's Horse, was named a Globe and Mail Best Book for 2007, and was shortlisted for the Governor General's Award, Ottawa Book Award and Trillium Book Award for Poetry. An active editor and teacher, Rob recently completed a PhD in literature and cultural studies in Ottawa. He and his family live in the folk-rock hills northeast of Toronto. His second collection of poetry is The Chimney Stone (2010).
