The Cinnamon Mine Gets Launched in Whitehorse

May 5, 2011

Ellen Davignon, Yukon writer and longtime newspaper columnist, is celebrating the publication of a new edition of her witty and fascinating memoir, The Cinnamon Mine: An Alaska Highway Childhood. Join Mac's Fireweed Books and Ellen Davignon for a book launch on Monday, May 9th at The Old Fire Hall (1105 First Avenue in Whitehorse) at 7:00 pm. Admission is free and refreshments—including Ellen's renowned cinnamon buns!— will be provided.

The Cinnamon Mine traces the adventures of the Porsild family from Denmark to Greenland, through Arctic Canada, and finally to remote Johnson's Crossing, where they operated one of the first tourist lodges on the Alaska Highway.
